Yes, most of you will lose it if you bought the game in other place than Steam or authorized retail stores. So if you bought your Modern Warfare 2 key of OnlineKeyStore or something similar (maybe G2Play?) you will lose your game from the Steam games list and you will never get it back!
In case you haven't seen it yet, this is the slow-motion video of Robin Walker using his ridiculously unfair Valve Rocket Launcher, with ten times the clip size, a hundred times the damage, five hundred bonus health for every hit and an accelerated rate of fire. He says he kills himself with it as often as not.
Battlefield: Bad Company 2: Dedicated to our PC Players!
|
A Battlefield: Bad Company 2 developer has assured its staying true to PC gaming and will continue to support dedicated servers, so we have at least one good war shooter to look forward to now IW have "Boinked" MW2. Speaking on the Battlefield Blog, Gordon Van Dyke, Producer on Battlefield Bad Company 2 at DICE, says;
A lot of buzz has been floating around the internet lately about dedicated servers and we wanted to make sure our all our players have the best understanding of how Battlefield will be played on the PC. Since Battlefield 1942 DICE has used dedicated servers for all platforms. This formula has worked well, and still works well, for us and for the gaming community. We have stayed true to this practice and will continue this tradition into the upcoming title Battlefield Bad Company 2.
Other games use player-hosted or 'peer to peer' solutions, often resulting in a "host with the most" situation; where the player hosting the match has an advantage over other players connected to their game. Everyone else is dependent on the host's internet connection and if they don't have a great connection neither will you regardless how great of an internet you have. Also, unless server migration is implemented the game ends when that hosting player quits the game forcing you to find another player-host or start your own. With dedicated servers everyone gets non-stop action with no connection penalties based on some other player and their internet. This makes dedicated servers the best solution for online PC gaming hands down! So rest assured PC players, Battlefield will stay true to its roots offering dedicated servers to all its players and continue the tradition of the ultimate FPS gaming experience!

Modern Warfare 2 has long earned the ire of PC gamers for its lack of dedicated servers, but Infinity Ward has now announced that it’s taking away much more than control over hosting with the game in one long face-palm of a question and answer session. No servers, no console, no mods, no problem!
Infinity Ward needs to realize that talking to people in the PC community does not end well for the buzz around its game. The lack of dedicated servers was "announced" during an interview with a gaming podcast, and the interviewers were stunned into silence when they were basically told their community, as they knew it, was dead. They would have to learn to adapt to Infinity Ward controlling all aspects of the servers, or move onto another game.
More recently, Best Buy hosted an online chat between gamers and Mackey McCandlish and Ryan Lastimosa from Infinity Ward. The floor was open for questions, and the pair systematically crushed any hope that the PC version of the game would even attempt to make gamers happy, or allow for what the community has been taking for granted for years. We’re going to take a look at some of the more telling questions from this session, and give our thoughts on why this is bad, bad news.
